Apply for Graduation

Congratulations Class of 2022! May 14th will be here before you know it, so APPLY for graduation today!

Follow these steps to ensure you are on the right path to graduation.

Step 1: Apply for Graduation

All students intending to graduate in May 2021 must apply for graduation through Cardinal Students by Friday, March 4, 2022. Select the Academic Progress tile from the main page of Cardinal Students follow the menu option "Apply for Graduation" and then follow the on-screen prompts.

Step 2: Verify Mailing Address

Verify that the address in Cardinal Station is correct. You will not receive important mailings about Commencement 2022 if accurate information is not provided.

Step 3: Reconcile Your Account

Reconcile your student account to make sure it is free of holds that would prevent you from receiving your diploma and official transcript.  You can check for holds via the Tasks tile in Cardinal Students.  Clicking on any holds listed will display contact information for the office that placed the hold.

Diploma and transcript holds may be applied by the following offices:

Mullen Library, contact the Circulation Desk at lib-circulation@cua.edu or 202-319-5060

Law Library, contact csl-circ@cua.edu or 202-319-5156

Step 4: Order Regalia and More Online

Please refer to the Grad Fair and More page to order your cap, gown, diploma frame, and announcements online. Cords will be coordinated and distributed by academic departments. Please contact your academic department for additional information.

Step 5: Complete Exit Loan Counseling

Students who received a Federal Loan while attending The Catholic University of America must complete Exit Loan Counseling as a condition of their loan. Visit the Financial Aid website to find out how to complete your specific Federal Loan Exit Counseling.

Step 6: Check Your Email for Updates from your Academic School

Please be sure to check and read your email regularly to receive the most updated information from your Academic Department about what you should do the day of Commencement.
